This is a beautiful video that someone added to Vimeo about the blessing ceremony at Kadampa Meditation Center France.

Two important posts about the New Kadampa Tradition have been posted on the New Kadampa Truth Blog in the last couple days. These posts refute the smears that the NKT has broken away from the Gelugpa tradition and the mainstream of Buddhism.
After reading these posts I was surfing the web and came across this quote from Jim Belither about Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and found these words inspiring to contemplate:
Through the kind efforts and pure wishes of our Venerable Teacher, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the sun of Je Tsongkhapa’s Kadam Dharma, having risen from behind the Eastern Snow Mountains, now radiates to many countries throughout the world. Through the pure thoughts and actions of Kadampa Buddhists, now and in the future, may the teachings, example and blessings of the Buddha and Je Tsongkhapa continue to remain and flourish for the greater good and happiness of all beings. – Jim Belither

The official New Kadampa Truth Blog went live today with responses to Nathaniel Whiteman’s 31 Reasons for Leaving the NKT. The official blog will function to refute new smears that don’t really fit into the format of the New Kadampa Truth site.
Not long ago, a young man called Nathaniel Whiteman posted 31 allegations against the NKT on various Internet sites – all reasons, he said, for leaving the NKT. He created his own blog and repeated them there, from whence they have spread to other anti-NKT blogs or websites. He wrote to New Kadampa Truth saying that he would remove them or change them on his blog if he got replies. – New Kadampa Truth Blog Read the full article

Below is part of a teaching that Geshe Kelsang Gyatso gave about Dorje Shugden at the NKT Summer Festival in 2006.
“You know that it is quite common that, nowadays, people are used to saying Dorje Shugden is a problem. Dorje Shugden has no problem at all! No problem. He is an enlightened being who is completely free from samsara’s problems. The ‘problem’ is a human problem, created by political people. These people created this problem to fulfill their own wish, not for any benefit, but their own wishes.
We should never allow ourselves to be discouraged, no? We can do this by concentrating on the truth. Now, I need to tell the truth! This is my job, you know! Otherwise, who would do this? No one has freedom, only me. So, the truth is as follows.
Dorje Shugden is a Dharma Protector who is a manifestation of Je Tsongkhapa. Je Tsongkhapa appears as the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden to prevent his doctrine from degenerating.”

Tenzin Peljor recently posted a message on his blog which included a message from a member of the New Kadampa Survivors forum who claimed to be giving the inside story from the NKT Summer Festival. Most of what is said could be easily refuted by anyone who was at the Summer Festival. So these kinds of posts, only serve to further discredit the integrity of Tenzin Peljor and his smear campaign.
The anonymous author claims that there were posters promoting the Western Shugden Society protests in Nantes, France all over the walls everywhere. Here’s a quote about the posters that were supposedly everywhere:
On mobile cooking points, walls and outbuildings. Even on the temple wall. The chapel was used as a meeting point. Even more posters! The walls were covered as were the doors and tables! – New Kadampa Survivors member
This person sounds like they were almost buried in posters. I had the great fortune to attend the Summer Festival (both weeks). I saw only about a dozen posters around Manjushri Centre, and as a matter of fact, the chapel in the priory was used for Festival registration. So this individual is clearly confused. The most bogus claim made is that the members of the Western Shugden Society are prepared to use violence against the Dalai Lama and that they are very angry. Another quote:
Some told me they were prepared to use violence. Hatred? Why? Geshe-la wants us to win at all costs. Confusion? They have truly been poisoned. [..] – New Kadampa Survivors member
Anyone who has attended a Western Shugden Society protest is aware that anyone who displays anger or malicious intentions would not be allowed to participate in the demonstrations. Before each protest, everyone attending makes a promise in writing to conduct themselves in a peaceful and respectful manner.
It’s great that Tenzin Peljor is posting this kind of material from the New Kadampa Survivors group so that outsiders can have a peek at the quality of the content of this forum. It is understandible that many of the people who join this group, hoping to derive some therapeutic benefits from the discussions held, quickly unsubscribe describing the group as “toxic”.
HappyNKTer said it best:
So there’s not a doubt in my mind that some people have had bad NKT experiences — just in the same way that Catholics, Baptists, Anglicans, Methodists, Jews, Muslims, and others have had bad experiences with their own religious tradition. But to create a forum whose main aim is to spend so much time blaming others and dwelling in negativity… well, they have every right to do that. I hope it brings them the happiness they seek.

The moderators of E-sangha have barred any positive comments about the New Kadampa Tradition, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso or Dorje Shugden from the site. However, they haven’t barred negative comments. They claim that the NKT is non-Buddhist. Apparently, it’s not only the New Kadampa Tradition that has had such experiences with E-sangha even though they claim to be a forum for all traditions of Buddhism.
From the blog In Pursuit of Mysteries:
E-sangha is a web forum that promotes itself as being for all Buddhists of all traditions of practice. It has a large base of users and, in fact, its number of users is large enough, over time, that the very number and amount of activity acts to pull in online Buddhists who hear about the site. In reality, E-sangha is a very unfriendly place for many Buddhists. It is run by a small junta of moderators with a bit of an iron fist (not even with the velvet glove!). This group brooks no disagreement with their beliefs or methods. Members of the forum who don’t toe the line with great alacrity for this collective are quickly and quietly banned from the site.
Members of the moderator junta claim that they do what they do for the sake of Buddhism and the spread of the Dharma. In their opinion, incorrect beliefs or doctrines lead to trouble and confusion so their discussion is not allowed, even to show that they are wrong.
From the New Kadampa Truth site:
Namdrol (Loppon Malcolm Smith), and the other moderators on E-Sangha have barred any positive discussion of NKT or Dorje Shugden on that supposedly ‘open’ and ‘non-sectarian’ Buddhist chat forum, the largest on the Internet, effectively labelling NKT as non-Buddhist. Criticism of NKT and Geshe Kelsang is always welcome though. Namdrol has posted many vituperative and irrational comments against the NKT and Dorje Shugden practitioners. He is also apparently a disciple of Namkhai Norbu. E-Sangha is currently being sued by Soto Zen priests who are also barred from E-Sangha for not fulfilling some of the doctrinal beliefs of the moderators of the site.

This unofficial website is a compilation of responses to the allegation of sectarianism on the part of the New Kadampa Tradition and its founder, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. By collecting together direct quotes from his published works, formal interviews, and even public debates, this website aims to show how the New Kadampa Tradition is actually non-sectarian. I wrote the first section to help us understand Geshe-la’s middle way between sectarianism and syncretism. – dharmaprotector.org
